Welcome
The Grand Theft Auto series made it's debut back in 1998 with the release of Grand Theft Auto, a 2D game that was to spark controversy all over the world because of the extreme violence and savage plot.

The series ventured into 3D by the time Grand Theft Auto 3 arrived on the Playstation 2, and it's easily accessible gameplay has since made the series a worldwide phenomenon, and a massively profitable franchise for developers Rockstar Games.

The idea behind all Grand Theft Auto games to date is simple. You play the role of a criminal, more often than not you arrive in the city fresh out of prison or on the run from a "business deal" gone wrong. You spend the early parts of the game working through relatively simple missions given to you by various underworld contacts situated around the city. These jobs are usually small earners.

As you progress through the early missions and explore the massive cities further, more difficult and lucrative missions are made available to you and new contacts can be unlocked. As you're making your way around there are also various items to collect placed in alleyways, bushes, on rooftops etc. These items include weapons from pistols and grenades through to flame-throwers and rocket launchers - even the odd tank is left laying around in the later stages of the games.

In the most recent games of the Grand Theft Auto series, you are able to purchase property. In most cases the property will simply act as a game saving point. However, they can also be dumping grounds for various weapons. The more you progress through the game in various ways, the more weapons will be left at your properties. Although if you can afford to buy the properties, you can afford to buy the weapons any time you wish anyway.
